And what if you decide to stand and move with the music, to dance?
Fr Karm Debattista
gives us a blend of the sounds of pop culture without the abandonment of God talk in which, at the end, you might like to dance to it.
Although this is the 8th album for Fr Karm, Dance into Joy, is his first album in English. The style is always that of soft rock and pop music.
The lyrics invite you to go deep into reflecting on the word of God and to enter into worship. Most of the lyrics are written by Fr Pierre Bonnici mssp, a co-writer with Fr Karm from the beginning. His lyrics are so rich with theology that it will be the heart behind the songs that beats the loudest. These lyrics are like strings attached to the tip of one’s fingertips raised up to the heavens on their own volition. The album opens with “His Goodness” taken from Psalm 115 that speaks about how good God is and that there’s no way how to repay for this goodness. This leads us to the title track, “Dance into Joy” as it invites everyone to do likewise.
The rest of the album takes different aspects of spirituality, from praying with psalms (His Goodness, In Your dwelling place, Master Builder and Blazing Fire), to personal prayer (Maranatha, Incense, Let me be like you) and to songs of reflection (Ephesian Canticle and I will Live - Lazarus Vigil).
